At Cortijo de Rosa : The Goat House

The accommodation comprises studio lounge with double bed, twin bedroom, and large kitchen-diner with glass doors at either end leading to the patios and swimming pool. There is a  bathroom with new shower, toilet and wash basin. We provide sheets, bedding and all crockery, towels and tea towels, but please bring beach towels. We have changed as little as possible so the place remains simple and atmospheric. It contrasts sharply with the modern high-rise world of the costas. You will encounter low ceilings, real beams and natural materials .

There is also a newly built 9m by 4m swimming pool with filter and ionizer and its own seating and patio area.

Summer Special In July and August we offer exclusive use of the pool and land and three patios plus an extra bedroom and a second larger bathroom with washing machine to accommodate up to 5. See below for dates.

At Casita de Ron & Casita Margarita

Two one bedroom stone built cottages surrounded by trees a short walk from the traditional mountain village of Bayacas    . From £139 p.w.

The Casitas are traditional single storey stone dwellings with beam and cane roofs, white washed walls and shady patios.Casita de Ron faces towards the east with a narrow 'sunken' patio with a huge vine and a separate piece of land with Avocado, Lemon and Fig trees. Casita Margarita faces largely towards the west and has a patio shaded by beautiful trees with a larger piece of land and  almond, chestnut, cherry and olive trees as well as many wild plants.

The Situation is exceptional with mountains in every direction and a sense of space and timeless tranquility .The Rio Chico is near by and a small bridge crosses to the village of Bayacas. Here there is a church , public phone and many alleys and terraces where village life continues as it probably has done for centuries. 30 minutes down the track (or 10 minutes drive) is the lively market town of Órgiva with banks, shops covered market, health food shops and many bars, restaurants and cafes.20 minutes walk up a steep track is a bar restaurant with views for many miles. Beyond this are the mountain villages many connected by footpaths. All have their attractions, some are particularly scenic, flower decked and steeply terraced. Pitres has a vegetarian restaurant, almost unheard of in Spain! A little further along you can look down on to El Duque made famous by Chris Stewart in his best sellers ‘Driving over Lemons’ and ‘A Parrot in a Pepper Tree’. Easy driving distance includes a spectacular coast of cliffs and bays with small resorts and good beaches; Granada with historic streets, cathedral and the famous Alhambra; Lanjaron, a spa whose waters are drunk all over Europe and of course spectacular walks in the high sierra.

The accommodation

in Casita de Ron comprises a large living room with kitchen area (sink, 3 ringed cooker and fridge), sofa bed, dining area and a rustic fireplace. There is a small bathroom with shower and a double bedroom.

In Casita Margarita there is a separate kitchen diner with an entranceway through into the lounge. The bedroom has twin beds and there is a sofa bed in the lounge. The bathroom has a full sized bath with shower over.

We provide sheets, bedding and all crockery, towels and tea towels. Please bring own beach towels

Both casitas are recently refurbished but we have attempted to retain much of their original charm with real beams, low doorways and original materials. They are a world apart from the bustle and concrete of the costas.

Getting Here Malaga and Granada are the nearest airports. There is also Almería a little further. All have good bus connections to Órgiva via Granada. Or hire cars, booked in the U.K. can be picked up from the airport. Try Malaga Car Hire 0871 7333073 http://www.malagacar.com/.There are ferry, drive or train options via France if you have time or from northern Spain.
